There is a growing market for cheese and yogurt in West Africa as locals discover Western cuisine. Most dairy products are imported from Europe and are very expensive. Here lies an opportunity to produce cheese locally for the local and tourist market.
Hondo Global's sheep farm has 21 rams and 3 ewes. These are Bali Bali sheep from the Mali/Niger boundary, otherwise known as "sheep of prestige". This is our second year of raising sheep for meat. Our short-term goal is to obtain 50 ewes and begin a breeding program with a yield of 25 lambs by the end of 2020. The male lambs will be used for meat, and the female lambs will be for our dairy.
Our farm is located on a fenced plot in an urban setting. We built a concrete block shed for the sheep to sleep in, and they have 1/2 acre to roam around. Their organic diet consists of peanut stems and sprouted fodder for a balanced diet and rich milk. Most of our rams will be sold once they reach 130 lbs. There is a ready market for live lambs in town.
To establish our dairy, we will build a cheese kitchen and a solar-powered cheese cave on our existing sheep farm. We will need to acquire artisan cheese making equipment with a 30 gallon batch capacity. We will also build a solar powered walk-in refrigerator. We plan on making cheese every three days. We will produce mozzarella, ricotta, havarti, and cheddar to start. We plan to open a goat farm outside of Accra, Ghana as well. We will provide specific information for investors upon request.
